Alexander Green's embankment, Kirov, Russia

From Kate,
Kirov, Kirov region, Russia

One of the most beautiful sights of Kirov is the embankment of Alexander Green. Picturesque recreation places, a panoramic view of the city's dyke and Dymkovskaya Sloboda (homeland of the Dymkovo toy), dense planting of birch, larch, linden, poplar and ornamental shrubs make the central embankment a green corner, tightly closed from the noisy city bustle with squares, parks and courtyards. On the embankment territory there is a church of the Theodore Icon of the Mother of God, a monument to A. Grin, a time capsule, an eternal flame and a monument to the victims of repression.

The embankment is named after the writer-romantic Alexander Green (AS Grinevsky), who is a native of Vyatka province (now Kirov) and known to the world as the author of the story "Scarlet Sails", the novel "Running on the Waves" and other works included in the list of the best Russian -Soviet era. Bronze bust of the writer, decorating the embankment since 2000, was created by Kirov sculptors KI. Kocienko and V.A. Bondarev.

The embankment of the Vyatka River is surrounded by the most beautiful sights of Kirov: the Alexander Garden, the Transfiguration Monastery, and on the south side a large staircase leads to the Holy Assumption Monastery of Trifonov. Embankment A. Green is one of the most visited tourist attractions of the city, a great place for romantic meetings, walks and admiring the picturesque nature.
